This is a very personal essay.  Many of you may not be interested.  That's fine.  Recently I was somewhat abruptly dismissed from c99 without warning.  No PM to tell me that once more I had crossed over some line of intolerability.  This you know if you've been reading my essays is perhaps not as rare an occurrence as I tell myself it is.

Criticize me.  Fine.  I got a thick skin.  But sometimes the criticism is hidden until some discreet yet invisible boundary is crossed.  Consequences.  Okay.  I accept them but shoot me in front, not from behind.  Is that not a reasonable request?

Online I have made several friends, even though I have never met, seen, nor heard them.  But friends they are.  How does such a friendship begin?   I won't speak for anyone but me.  In written conversation, which means several mutual interactions indicative of individual perceptions and expressions of perception, my instinct developed over so many years tells me that the other person resonates with me spiritually.  This does not mean that either knows "everything" about the other.  Resonance means that a sympathetic ethereal vibration is developed.  This can happen immediately or over a longer period of time.

My judgements in picking online friends has so far proven correct.  As I get to know these individuals, the more compatible with my prejudices they seem.  This compatibility has nothing to do with either party's influence over the other person's selfhood.  Describing such an abstract perception is of course difficult if not impossible.

Music is life.  At the moment, I am listening to Beethoven's Choral Fantasy, Op. 80.  Magnificent.  Especially then listening through headphones.

The above digression creates a communication with flavor.  You like it perhaps, or perhaps not.

Continuing upon the subject of friendship, I learned who my friends were / are when reading my "epitaph" bravely written by on our Communitarians.  Those back at my prior swamp wrote honestly what they felt:  for good, ill or neutral.  This was gratifying that any supporters existed.  Here as there, I express my feelings as nakedly as my reptilian namesake.  Not much subtlety here.  But subtlety was never a character trait which I possessed.  Even when a kid I was Mr. Blunt.  No bullshit.  And I don't do bullshit, no matter the source.

But one friend emerged, a friend with enough passion to express herself with that very eloquent passion to members of my previous swamp.  I have learned that there were friends I never knew and hope they keep in contact.  Yes, friendship can develop on line when the friends truthfully share whatever it is they choose to share.

Finishing this off, I relate a friend made following a week-long game of telephone tag.  Neither of us knew about the other except that I wanted an answer to a political observation he made online.  I called him, he called back, etc.  Our first conversation lasted 2.5 hours.  Other conversations have been at least 30 minutes.  I've been invited to stay at his home--with full permission of his wife who is quite glad of our friendship.

I offer friendship, no b.s., to those who want it.  PM me if you desire.

thank you, passionate friend.

Sounds like C99 is another sheep dogging site.

Glad you're here with us.

Glad to be here.  Hope you like what I write, even when you disagree.  Conversation should be the aim; not conformity of opinion.

Oh hell yeah!
You have a way with words.
Wish I could write like that.
My book would have been done years ago.

Good grief, Ed. They tossed you off the island with nary a warning ?     FBA3E13B-47A2-4D43-9C58-EDD74CB0A68F.gif

That is wrong on so many levels, including sea level.   A54584C3-B38E-4EE8-8F9A-6DD8E6A61D55.gif

Many of us here have been tossed, banned, and banished. Thanks to Bee, who gathered us all up each time it happened, we maintained contact. We called ourselves Banned on the Run. This site is here thanks to Bee and her determination to give us an internet home. Bee tells the story better than I.  She could be coaxed to share if you were to use your irresistible alligator charm.   🐊💕

Your problem my friend, is that you had been keeping the wrong company, with guys like me.  But apparently at c99 you had lots of friends of the wrong kind and they will obviously be missing you.  Hopefully they will find a way to communicate with you.  Over the years my incessant banning as cost me a lot of friends that I never got to hear from again.  Sucks really, but that is how things apparently work.
Ye shall know the phony left by the gates they keep.

Not always. 🤓
We will not win fighting what we hate but by saving what we love.

Keep Calm and Carry On 👍

David, my good fellow, I don't regret being your friend.  I do regret getting into such a malhumor lately.  But Ms. Bee is truly a good friend also.  There may be other c99 refugees coming here or at least leaving c99.  The way beebee was mistreated there for defending me showed to what depths the liege lord had sunk, lying about her.
